The old Glass Plus building sporting a new coat paint. I have to admit, it looks better. I am unclear as to why the developer doesn't just level it? How much would that cost? I guess this points out that you have three entities here. The developer, the City Council, and the voters, all with their own opinions about how to run a business. Then you also have some local businesses, who also have opinions about how to run a business, and I guess even do run a business.

I was thinking about the "Chaos" remark the appeared recently in the Laker. The ones to ask if that is true, may not be on the City Council. I'd ask the local businesses, what's going to happen? I'd ask the ones along the west side of Commerce, south of Lynwood, and the ones south of old Shoreline. Ask them where they are going be three years from now? To be in business is to take risks, to deal with uncertainties. I'd guess I'd ask the local government, to try not to add too much new uncertainty.   Bigger image

Isn't it ironic that a developer is so concerned that his property isn't selling as well as expected that he would go to the trouble of painting a vacant building a 100 yards away from his property yet leave the entire front of his property full of weeds ? Maybe he should concentrate on what is right in front of him instead of what someone else's property looks like !

What I find ironic is that the developer doesnt see that he built on a main road with traffic and that the view the condos have is less than desirable. Nevermind as well that the condos are built in one massive mosquito nest.

But hey...be it an ugly building or bad location, passing blame is all the rage these days.
