There was a meeting of the Mound City Council last night. It looks like Greg Skinner will be a Councilman and remain a City employee. The question had been asked, if that might cause the City a problem? Apparently it will not.

We shall see, now that the current council has accepted the AG and City Attorneys report, if Team Mound will adhere to their position of also accepting the outcome of the rulings. I find it interesting that Mr. Osmek made the motion to accept the findings seeing that he was so visibly disturbed by the outcome. I wonder if now they will pledge to " move on " or will they just be laying in the grass waiting to pounce on any little matter that would benefit their cause. What I have been hearing all over town is that people want this issue to die and die for good. GET ON WITH BUSINESS ..... that's what we were told would happen. No more bantering and contemptuous debates while sitting in meetings ........that's not what we need. Are they really capable of that? The ball is in their court so to speak. Let THEM prove to this city that they are capable of true leadership, common sense. Let THEM prove that they represent this city and all it's residents and not their own personal views. People are tired of the ME, ME , I can accept this attitude. These are the things I hear about everyday. Live up to your talk ......... GET ON WITH BUSINESS !!!

Jeff, I agree it is time to get on with the busines of the city. I also do believe in the system and want to entrust our council to take of business. Although I am not certain I would be confident in saying that all of Mound council is also interested in going on and conducting business.

Well it seems that of the 6 agenda items that I had predicted would occur for Team Mound in earlier blogs only two can and most definitely take place.
#1 . Mayor elect Hanus will appoint Mr. Osmek as " Acting Mayor " .
#2. Mayor elect Hanus will allow Mr. Osmek his seating choice at the council table, that I will predict to be in the center.
You would think that there are more pressing issues for our community to take care of but these two will take place first. That being said I surely hope that these individuals see that the citizens of this city need and deserve more attention to the issues of redevelopment and a more thriving business district then what we have .

Jeff; your predictions #1 and #2 may very well happen and hold true and it may prove your observation of power glory and selfishness. As for the seating issue, it only seems right that the real mayor sit in the center of the council as was the case with our former Mayor Bob Polston. In this type of seating arrangement it offers a true team feeling and allows the mayor to discuss issues balanced with all council members. The "acting" Mayor should sit further away from the Mayor in an effort to promote open communication with ALL council members for a fair and balanced forum. If the mayor and "acting" mayor sit side by side along with the city Mgr. or in the same side of the semi circled table this WILL preclude open dialog among council members and create a devision of us vs. them which will lead to further hostility and the return of "FIGHT NIGHT." In my life I always discuss my important issues with one, or two of my closer friends that know me, how I think and don't always agree with me on all issues and in doing so offer other ideas and or options to problems so as to see the "BIG" picture and create a BALANCED decision. On more difficult problems I have a cabinet of (10) friends that I have known for 25 years that I tap the resources of, again creating a truly balanced thought/decision process. It is well known that I am very conservative and a strong Republican. That being said one of my best friends in my cabinet of thinkers is a liberal Democrat, offering "Balance" and "open" thinking. My wife Debbie is my #1. associate/adviser and may advise from time to time: "Reel It In Bubba."
