Well it is that time of the year again. 6.5% increase in spending and 11.1% increase in property taxes, Why? Did we close the city down early this past year due to insufficient funds? Did we carry over expenses from '06 to '07 prompting the need for increased taxes? I believe as most citizens do that City Government should provide 4 basic functions: Public Safety(Police, Fire), Water and Streets. I am confident as our citizens are that we can all take care of the rest. 11.1% increase in property taxes is nearly 3 times the rate of inflation, that's too much!

And to think this is after defeating the levy.

My income hasn't gone up 11.1%; in fact, with the increased cost of putting gas in my car, increased utilities, and health care costs, I do believe my income (adjusted for inflation) is substantially less than it has been in previous years.

Anyone else in the same boat?
