Mound Mayor-elect Mark Hanus writes recently: "Potential lawsuits can come from many places. With regard to this issue, the two I am most concerned about are: 1. An irate citizen that does not like a vote that was cast against him and wants to challenge the validity of the vote, and 2. Any contract holder whose contract is declared invalid because the process was flawed by an illegal official voting on the contract." - See the complete response on the side bar.

Greenslit writes:

I had asked for an elaboration on potential lawsuits stemming from uncertainties about Councilman-elect Greg Skinner. He is a Mound city employee. I see what he says on point 1. and would call such a thing a sour grapes lawsuit. Losing a vote and then reacting in a less than optimal manner. The citizen bringing up an unrelated issue. And I accept Hanus' point here. On point 2. if such a thing happens, I can imagine remedies to set things right. Perhaps the council minus one would just hold a meeting and re-pass everything that is effected? Still, how many lawyers is that going to take? Point 2. has been made. I don't yet have a feel for the how big a problem this is? Hopefully the Attorney General is going to give an opinion leaning heavily one way or the other.
